Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of rope do you use?

We use marine-grade rope sourced from professional rigging operations. This includes double-braid nylon, polyester yacht braid, and 3-strand twisted line — the same materials used on working boats and sailing yachts. Each rope type has distinct texture and character.

Is the hardware real brass?

Yes. We use solid brass fittings and hardware — not brass-plated steel. Brass develops a warm, natural patina over time. If you prefer a polished look, a gentle buff with a soft cloth restores the shine.

How do I care for my rope accessory?

Marine rope is built to withstand saltwater and sun, so daily wear is no problem. For cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, hand wash with mild soap and warm water, then air dry. Avoid machine washing — it can distort the splice work. Brass hardware can be polished with any standard brass cleaner.

How does belt sizing work?

Our rope belts come in two sizes:

  • S/M — fits waist 28″–32″
  • L/XL — fits waist 34″–38″

Measure where you normally wear your belt. If you’re between sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort.

How does dog collar sizing work?

Measure your dog’s neck where the collar sits, leaving room for two fingers between the tape and your dog’s neck. Check the product page for specific size ranges per style.

Do you offer custom orders?

Not at this time. We’re focused on perfecting our core collection. Follow us for updates on new products and limited releases.

Where are your products made?

All Loft & Strand accessories are handcrafted in New England using rope sourced from professional marine rigging operations in the region.

Are your products sustainable?

Our core materials are repurposed from working marine operations — rope that would otherwise be discarded. By giving this material a second life, we reduce waste while preserving the quality and character that only real working rope can offer.
